It’s no secret, Sewing Moxie the business didn’t really last. We had a good run, a little over a year, but there are a lot of things that I did that I shouldn’t have. I didn’t make the smartest business decisions and I easily lost focus.
I ended up liquidating what I could and shutting down, taking an entire year off of quilting as a whole. I had built this studio in my basement, purchased a longarm quilter, and there they sat: not being used and gathering dust.
I didn’t realize how much I would miss it, and I think I needed a reason to start quilting again – other than my husband telling me how he was going to sell my quilter and take over my studio for himself. It came in the form of a baby. Not my baby – heck no – but my cousin’s baby. She was so little, sweet, perfect, and needed a beautiful little baby quilt. And I needed to make it.
I still have quite a bit of fabric from the inventory that was left over, and some of that fabric happened to be fat quarter bundles of Paradiso by Kate Spain. It was perfect. The perfect amount of beautiful little girl prints with flowery beauty.
I only took the one photo as I was in a rush to finish it. It turned out rather lovely, and after being washed it had this beautiful antique-y crinkle to it that us quilters love.
So after a year break, this was my new beginning. This small, beautiful little quilt for a beautiful, lovely little girl.
I hope you enjoy your Sunday.
